Roles & Responsibilities
1. Construction of Coal Mining Infrastructure
- Oversees the development of open-cast and underground coal mines.
- Includes construction of:
- Mine shafts and portals
- Overburden removal systems
- Haul roads and service roads within mining areas
- Office complexes and administrative buildings within mining sites
2. Coal Handling and Processing Infrastructure
- Constructs Coal Handling Plants (CHPs) and Coal Washeries to process raw coal.
- Involves construction of:
- Conveyors, silos, hoppers
- Railway sidings, loading/unloading terminals
- Dust suppression systems and water treatment facilities
3. Worker and Township Infrastructure
- Develops townships, colonies, and amenities for mine workers under public sector coal companies like Coal India Limited (CIL).
- Construction includes:
- Residential quarters
- Hospitals, schools, roads, and recreational centers
4. Coal Transportation Infrastructure
- Constructs road and rail connectivity to link mines with power plants and industrial users.
- Collaborates with the Ministry of Railways and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for:
- Railway lines for coal evacuation
- Dedicated freight corridors and sidings
5. Environmental Infrastructure
- Builds infrastructure for:
- Mine closure and land reclamation (afforestation, ponds)
- Surface water drainage and sedimentation tanks
- Fly ash management near coal-fired power plant locations
